Helwig Recreation Center
North Park University’s Helwig Recreation Center offers students, faculty, and staff opportunities for sport, recreation, fitness, and wellness. Helwig is also home to training and clinical facilities for the Vikings intercollegiate teams and the University’s Athletic Training Educational Program. The wellness and recreation staff also assist in coordinating a wide range of group fitness and wellness opportunities, including intramural sports; our cheer and dance,teams; group fitness classes, and wellness challenges.
Hours and Facilities
Helwig Recreation Center is a 68,000-square-foot facility that includes a 200-meter, two-lane indoor running track; two basketball and three volleyball courts; a 35-yard turf surface; batting cages; a climbing wall; a two-level fitness area; classrooms and offices.
Group Fitness
Interested in a morning cycling and abs class? How about yoga, Zumba, or hip hop cardio? These are just some of the free group fitness classes offered free to students, and to faculty, staff, and Seminary spouses for a small fee.
Personal Training
Personal training services are available to North Park students, faculty, and staff for a fee. We’ll match you with a nationally certified trainer to help you achieve your fitness goals.
Equipment Orientation
If you’re new to working out—or just new to using weight or cardio equipment—the wellness staff offers free equipment orientation sessions.
